Lacrosse is played by affluent suburban kids in the Northeast, whose parents who view lacrosse as not just a means to a sholarship, but also as a way to get into a stronger academic school than their daughters might otherwise be able to get into. We love VT, but strip out engineering (not a target major for many student-athletes) and VT's academic reputaion isn't as strong as those other schools, escpecially in liberal arts.
