from the beginning refused to wear masks in public indoor settings. Even when things were at their peak with Covid, they wouldn’t wear one, and they didn’t seem to care what others thought or what potential risk they were causing others. These folks fell into several categories. They couldn’t be bothered to wear one. They were worried about how wearing a mask would affect their health. They had political reasons. Or they felt they had some inalienable right to go maskless even when private businesses were telling them they had to wear one. These same folks arguing about constitutionality seemed to have no issue with not smoking in the grocery store, wearing their seatbelt, wearing a motorcycle helmet, etc. which really makes no sense. How can a mask be a violation of your rights but those other things are fine? Whether masks do anything or not, I don’t know, but even if they help prevent 1 infection out of 100 possible infections, that’s one less person who is sick and spreading Covid to someone who may be in the minority who gets a severe case.

Now there are those who don’t want the vaccine. My brother is one of them. My dad made him an appointment, and he refused to go. It doesn’t surprise me because he doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to decision making. Honestly, I wouldn’t really care if the people refusing to get the vaccine would take extra precautions to prevent the spread amongst themselves, but I have a feeling they’ll be casting their masks aside, taking advantage of new guidelines for the vaccinated. I have a ten year old who can’t get the vaccine yet. Now I feel like we can’t take her to indoor settings until she is able to get the vaccine. It sucks. But hey, the hopefully few people that don’t want the vaccine and don’t want to take other precautions are comfortable, so I guess it’s all good. As far as I’m concerned, once my daughter is vaccinated, everyone else can do whatever they want.
