Question for @B777Fr8Dog

My son is at Pensacola finishing up Primary NFO training. He's had a pretty comprehensive condensed course in flying (first a Cessana 172, then the T-6II) up to now. Unless he ends up training for strike (jets) he is probably not going to be flying any Navy planes in training from here on out. His preference right now is for P8s. In any case, he was wondering how you got the hours to do what you do now, since you also we once a NFO.
