Much sharper this evening than against Santa Clara the other day. Always looked an attacking threat, less wasteful with the ball, and having Ava Veith back in the lineup really helped -- linkup play with Tori Powell that was missing against Santa Clara led to VT's first goal.

Had to have been a satisfying win for VT's four Philly-area players:

• Emily Gray -- goal after capitalizing on a sloppy Villanova giveaway
• Emma Pelkowski – two assists; looked excellent playing wide right in the second half and would love to see her out there more and more time for Aino Vuorinen in the center of midfield
• Emma Steigerwald – considerably better at right back today than at left back on Sunday
• Allie Lewis – strong in defense, as usual

Would've loved to see them get the clean sheet, but hard to find much fault in a 5-1 win over a 5-0 Villanova team.

Should be a good game on Sunday in Columbia. South Carolina is 5-1 (only loss was 2-1 tonight against Clemson) and has already beaten two ACC opponents (2-1 at NC State, 1-0 against Boston College). I'll be there and look forward to it!
