I can understand not wanting to play teams ...


that you'll face in the regular season but it seems like Tech should try to play better competition in the fall. Maybe play Marshall, Ohio, Eastern Kentucky, UNC-Asheville, Elon ... or whoever is within 4-5 hour drive that Tech seldom plays. Each coach has their own philosophies. I'd want my younger and inexperienced players to play against better players win or lose. My high school football coach would schedule scrimmages against larger schools just to see how well his smaller team dealt with larger and faster athletic players. He wasn't concerned about wins or loses. It was just a scrimmage to better his team. That strategy worked out well when he played in the regular season against schools of similar size.
