But I wouldnt say he is a VT lean or IU lean or whatever it may be. I have no idea. But Ive watched a lot of recruitments for a long time and you can tell when things are a good sign and when there are red flags.

Setting a decision date prior to taking a visit that was rescheduled is a good sign for the teams that are perceived as the leaders. Its also a good sign the kid will honor his commitment, as it looks like he promised Alabama a visit and he will take it even if he doesn't believe thats where he will wind up.

There obviously is always a chance that Alabama blows him away and shows him he will be an integral part to their program, but looking at who theyre targeting and when they have their visits set, it doesnt look like Clowney is as much of a priority to Alabama as he is to IU and VT. I think UF is in the same boat with Alabama.

Now when you dig into VT vs IU, he has a prior connection to the VT staff through his coach at Dorman. VT can show a better look at exactly how he will be used, as it is TBD what Woodson will even run. Setting a decision date before the college season is great for VT as it wouldnt give IU time to showcase their philosophy before the decision is made.

There are a lot of good signs pointing to VT. All of which is why I had him as one of the more likely to commit. If he becomes a big priority to UF or Bama in the coming weeks then it could change things.

If he moves his commitment date thats a bad sign. If Alabama and UF misses on any prospects, then it changes things.

But as it stands right now, I would say VT vs IU, and there is solid reasoning to choose VT over IU in this instance.
