MLB and NBA games can't be streamed that air on ESPN

Same with golf, tennis, and F!. ESPN can only broadcast those events on their TV channel and not stream them.

The new contract with the NFL allows them to, as does the contract with the NHL. Future contracts will probably do the same with the MLB, NBA, PGA, tennis, and F1, but until those deals are renewed, no streaming for those sports on ESPN.

I think Disney really wants to get ESPN into a streaming product like Paramount+ does with CBS streaming the CBS network for an added fee. That way, Disney doesn't have to worry about getting into carriage disputes with cable carriers any more and can offer all their networks as a package to everyone.
