whether the writer or his quoted subjects really have a clue of what they are talking about, IMO. ESPN may be spun off but, that decision will probably have a lot more to do with other metrics than how they might convert longer term TV contracts to a streaming environment more readily. I doubt ESPN's current operations are a drag on the stock price, moreover, I am not sure spinning ESPN off does not do more to hurt the value as they significantly benefit at present from the power of the Mouse. I wouldn't be too sure the article is more of a shot across the bow to a few "partners" compelling them to be more cooperative or else they might find themselves in an unwanted position. That quote about the Rose Bowl seems a bit out of place just as an example.
