I was in the field as a construction superintendent for 15 years and only needed two pairs of Redwings. I had the first pair resoled once, and could have had them re-soled a second time if I had caught it in time. Unfortunately I was doing the most stressful project of my career around that time and didn't realize how badly-worn the soles were until it was too late. By the time I took them to the Redwing store, I had already worn into the mid-sole and through some of the welt on the toes, and Redwing said they couldn't repair them. I did end up finding a cobbler to put on a set of Vibram soles, and he repaired the welt, but he didn't do a great job with the actual re-soling process and they started de-laminating pretty quickly. They're my "backup" boots now.
