At times it looks like a basketball conference trying to play (or compete) in football. However, Miami's problems existed long before it joined the ACC. Given that canals funnel into the lake, I am not sure Miami could fill it in even if it wanted to for environmental reasons. At least that would be something that Miami's lawyers would need to research first because Miami could be forced to fill in the canals too. WRT your only real option, does Miami have deep enough pockets to be able to afford that plan?

Personally, I would get a chuckle if Miami did find a way to build a small on campus football stadium and it was forced to switch to the DI-FCS because the stadium wasn't large enough to meet the FBS minimum standards. I know some have suggested working out a deal with the Miami Marlins and playing their home games in their stadium since it was built on top of where the Orange Bowl used to be. While logistically that may be a better plan, it would still be odd to see the Mighty Miami Hurricanes playing their home games in a funky baseball stadium.
