No one can be sure what the new format will be beyond what had been proposed and then shelved when the SEC got caught trying to rig the game last summer producing a reaction among the major conferences called The Alliance.

While many support a limited number of conferences with access US Anti-Trust Laws are going to be an issue even if the wording is something like Top5 or Top6 highest ranked conferences. Will it be enough? Maybe, maybe not.

I have assumed we are going to 16 with each of the ten conferences getting an automatic seed. I ranked those seeds based on last years final finish polls based on the highest final poll conference representative. This would leave six open slots and every team not already in could be tossed into a large pool and the Committee would pull out six to fill out the bracket. No more then one additional from another conference. So at this point Notre Dame would be in this pool in competition with teams from the major conferences as well as the lower considered conferences and other independents. Notre Dame should be able to swing that but in any year where they slip just a bit and they are out, So, maybe a 1 loss is in but 3 is certainly out, where does a 2 loss ND land, probably on the outside.
