Clemson, who was never that good, was the tallest midget in the ACC and went every year for 7 years. Oklahoma had been trending down the entire Lincoln Riley was at the helm and went every year. Oregon beat up on a bunch of nerd/woke schools and went more often than not. Any school of the stature ND is supposed to be should be able to run the table in a weak conference year in and year out.

ND's schedule sucks. The adherence to playing the same cadre of "national flavor" was built in the 70's and 80's. The world has changed and ND still schedules the same old saw horses thinking they are doing something daunting.

I am fine with ND being independent, in fact I prefer it, it signifies to me that ND is not goodn enough to be in a conference and deal with all the effort of actually earning their place. ND, right now, thinks it can play a run down schedule and be anointed. Good for them, but the new playoff coming is not going to cater to that sort of mindset.

I used to hate ND because of the thinking you and other domers foster but in the last 15 years I have come to think of ND as a relic of an age gone by, like an old roadster from the 50's pretty look at but not useful at all.
