Sometimes we get lost in the fact that the sport itself, isn't what is most important. But perhaps, it's what the sport prepares us for. Clearly Tate Myre's upbringing and athletic life prepared him to take courageous action when there was not a moment to count the cost when he charged the shooter at Oxford High School in Michigan. He lost his life, and others were saved in his place.

His parents and loved ones must be absolutely heartbroken. But I would hope that they would also be very proud at the same time.
