That’s such a great 50 yo song. I often wonder when I hear an old classic

Now, would I instantly recognize it as a great song if I was listening to it for the first time in a local bar or do I enjoy it because I already have the beat & words in my head while they’re playing it? I don’t think there is one song out there that I got to know first from listening to a local band or musician that went on to become national hit & definitely no classics.
