I’ve come to the conclusion we are generally a middle of the pack


Athletics school for many reasons. Any excellence will generally be an exception not the norm. Once in a lifetime talents (Vick) will help out perform once in a while. But VT is just like many large schools struggling to maintain consistent levels of performance. (Seen Pitt play hoops later? Jerome Lane can’t be happy).

Have a mindset that we aren’t positioned as a school to constantly be excellent or in contention makes the good times all the better and keeps my tv safe from the remote in the bad times.

Frankly VT’s administration struggles outside of academics. Use the academic logo as an example. If they put as much time and energy into some of the non revenue teams as they did the logo mess it would make a real difference.

Teams like wrestling have excelled because they took fundraising to another level. I hope that continues and other non revenue sports follow.
