But plenty of counties across the nation allow accessory dwelling units. I can see not allowing multiple dwelling units - but you can also build a four unit apartment on residential land in the region, which could then be put on AirBnB, so the end result is the same.

In fact I've considered just that - buying a single family home and adding to it to create a duplex. That is allowable under their zoning.
