From the coach's point of view...


a contract without a buyout is a one sided contract and gives him no protection. Also, as long as any teams are willing to offer a buyout clause, competition will require everyone to offer a buyout clause in order to attract a good coach. It's all about supply and demand. There is more demand for good, proven coaches than there is a supply of good, proven coaches.

As for Mike Young, I have no reason to believe that he is coasting. I bet the losses and the way that they happen hurts him much more than it hurts the fans. Lets see where the team is in another 2 - 3 years before being critical of Coach Young.
