Every ACC team gets 2 annual rivals....

and plays 6 of the 12 ACC teams in cycle #1 and then the other 6 ACC teams in cycle #2. For example, Tech gets UVA and Miami as annual rivals. Tech will play every ACC team in 2 years. Fans finally get to see Clemson and FSU every 2 years and will see them at Lane at least every 3-4 years. Throw in games vs. Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC opponents along with teams like WVU and Cincinnati and we have a much better football schedule. It's a win-win for everybody. If the ACC stays with a conference championship game, then the 2 highest ranked teams in College Football Playoff rankings go.
