It's an absolute joke. "Brand name bias" is very real in the NCAAT.

Especially for the constantly overrated "Big" 10. That league flopped in last year's tourney and they are primed to do so again this year. They haven't produced a national champion in more than 2 decades. But they are big schools with big TV ratings, so they consistently get bids and seeds they don't deserve.

There is NO WAY a VT squad will ever make the big dance with a 17-14 record. Regardless of who we play, when, or where. It will never happen. Michigan's inclusion in this tournament is completely ridiculous and they are the poster child for everything wrong with the selection process.

Likewise, Kentucky and Duke getting 2 seeds over Tennessee just shows that sentimentality, brand recognition, and reputation matters more than results.

I don't think "the committee" has any particularly bias against VT. I do think they have a bias in favor of teams in the midwest and northeast, and in favor of "traditional powers". We are neither of those things, so we have consistently been underseeded when we do manage to get in.
