The game was won and lost at the 3 pt line.


TX made only two less 3's than VT attempted.

TX perimeter D was good, VT's was not.

3's beat 2's, which is why I didn't understand VT's play late in the game. Down double digits with less than 4 mins left, Pedulla was the only player willing to force the issue from outside. Everyone else was still trying to get to the rim.

Overall, Texas just played a bit better than expected, VT a bit worse. But I would like to have seen Young and the players come up with something in the second half to free up our distance shooters. I thought we were too passive in letting Texas dictate our offensive style of play. Contrast that with the women's game- FGCU came into that contest determined to shoot a lot of 3's, and they did. Our men's team seemed too willing to take what the defense was giving rather than dancing with what brung us (which was great outside shooting).
