Emma's 70 certainly passes the 'eye test'. Not questioning that.


The issue is not really VT related but a general one. Really odd how, like the example I cited, many low 60's pitchers suddenly become high 60's on the ESPN guns. There's a lot going on here from physics point of view. Any pitch is losing velocity from the moment it leaves the pitchers hand. When the gun in question picks up the pitch and how it's algo averages it makes a difference. Of course, ultimately, it's not how hard you 'throw' but rather how well you 'pitch'. "Throwing" and "pitching" are very different. However, if you can "throw" 70 mph you can get away with a lot more "pitching" mistakes than someone who "throws" 65.
