Doubters on recruits


How many gurus rolled their eyes when Coach Young brought in Hunter Cattoor? Many thought on here that he wouldn't contribute at the ACC level.

Key thing for any basketball player is the "want to" and basketball smarts. Talent can only get you so far on this level. A player a step slow on defense can get by with smarts in the overall team defensive schemes, but on individual one on one matchups can be exposed. How do you overcome this. Coaching.

Coaching a group that is in total sync with each other is nice and takes time. Getting the team there is what separates the talent collector coaches and the real coaches. Incoming freshman can't be evaluated to know that they will contribute their first year. Even portal additions coming from other programs is a crap shoot with having them fit in.
