I got a similar letter last year. I owed money to begin with...

...so when the IRS determined that I had incorrectly calculated the total of stimulus received, I owed even more, plus penalties and interest. Yay!

I used TurboTax to file my taxes, so I filed a complaint with them. In my mind, TurboTax had incorrectly calculated what I owed based on the stimulus money I had received. According to TurboTax, I incorrectly entered the information. It is possible that I entered the amounts of stimulus checks #2 and #3 instead of #1 and #2. Either way, I would have traded the stimulus money for some reduction in inflation. Oh well...at this point I've used most of the stimulus on guns and ammo... probably not what Uncle Sam had in mind, ha.
