What I don't understand is why...

...in the world anyone thinks it's helpful to print stories like the one linked below which spotlights the help the U.S. is giving to Ukraine. It's as if government officials simply can't resist the urge to engage in posturing for political/social reasons instead of striving for the greater good of not further enflaming a really volatile situation.

I agree with HOKIERIT in that, short of Putin dying, I don't see a way that this ends without Putin attempting a deployment of some kind of nuclear weapon. If that happens, all bets are off as to how it plays out.
