It really is a puzzling decision.......


that is probably grounded in dollars and cents. It makes sense because a bye to only the top 1 or 2 teams is a nice reward for the regular season work and as you say it adds inventory to the network broadcast schedule. The only thing I can think of is having to bring teams in a day earlier creates an additional expense that may not be covered by the revenue generated and/or the top teams value an extra day of rest for the post season versus the risk of a game that likely only negatively impacts their tourney prospects with minimal upside. If ACC was stronger top to bottom the argument for expanding would seem to be even stronger as well.
