I know this has been discussed before, but maybe some of you more in the know than myself can help explain, as apparently it remains an important factor in today's baseball landscape. How do we stack up in our ability to provide said "institutional aid" vs. our competition?

This is from an article in today's Charlottesville paper:

College baseball still only allows 11.7 scholarships to spread about 35 players.

Virginia, like other programs, can use institutional aid for assistance in such situations.

“Is it an avenue that helps some of our players be at the University of Virginia? Sure it is,” O’Connor said. “But it just varies. That has more to do with them (student-athletes), what they qualify for, than what we can do about it.

“But certainly it’s absolutely a part of what we do and an important part of what we do. And it will be an important part moving forward."
