WatchESPN doesn't get the same investment that Hulu or Netflix does:

I would be careful of using WatchESPN as the example. Since streaming is not ESPN's bread and butter like it is for Hulu and Netflix, they're clearly not putting enough resources into it. I'm on Verizon FiOS at my house (also just outside of DC), and I've been rather disappointed with WatchESPN, as well, while Hulu and Netflix have been awesome. We don't buy DVDs or Blu-Rays anymore; we just stream them off the Apple TV or Amazon. HBO GO has been fantastic for us, as well. The successful streaming services have put a lot of time and effort into their products, making sure there aren't any bottlenecks between them and their users, including avoiding using crapware like Adobe's Flash. IIRC, actually, HBO built it's GO app off of Major League Baseball's streaming service, which I hear (but haven't experienced) is fantastic.

If I had a reliable streaming service for sports, and especially VT, I'd have already ditched Cable TV for just internet.

I'm 35, born in 1980, at the very, very leading edge of the Millennials (or the very, very end of Generation X), if that's a data point worth noting...
