I think if Tech were located east of the Blue Ridge Mountains, they might go with natural turf. I guess that Tech thought it was easier to just go with AstroTurf than worry about the conditions of the field during the early spring. I'm sure that the athletics department has worked with the Agronomy Department to find the best grass to grow on athletic fields in the area but none of them have been successful throughout the entire season.
