IMHO, I think most on this board have been respectful in their....
criticism. Will Stewart removed at least one poster who went too far. The decreasing number of posts on this board over the past few years said more about the state of our women's basketball program than a few NATT posters. I honestly believe that most posters on this board only want the best for any Tech athletics program but when a program begins to decline, it is only natural for fan support and interest to decrease. Traffic on this board picked up in late 2015 when we did well before ACC play. Most of the posts were positive. This board was optimistic. When the team struggled in ACC play, traffic decreased and more criticism occurred. What happen on here is no different than any other college sports board. IMHO, things here were mild compared to other schools message boards. I now see the same thing occurring on the baseball board.
I also realize that family and friends of current and former players read this board. I agree that we shouldn't personally attack or criticize any player (unless it involves poor sportsmanship). I didn't really see much of that on this board. Most of the criticism was aimed toward Dennis Wolff. He is a professional coach. He made a decent salary. He wasn't doing the job most fans wanted. Whit agreed with the fans and parted ways with him.
It was time for a coaching change and Whit made an excellent hire in Kenny Brooks. I, like a great majority on this board, only wish Dennis Wolff and his wife the best. I truly believe that he tried his best, but he didn't succeed. I, myself, have experienced the same thing in life, like anyone else who is human. Good luck Coach Wolff!
