I disagree that the ACC would give the same deal it gave Notre Dame


because the ACC wouldn't want to deal with the PR issues that arise from it. Think about it the ACC would have 2 non-football members, who play football, in Notre Dame and Wake. Plus, it would have 1 football-only member in whomever to take Wake's place and balance out the divisions.

It wouldn't be that much different than when the Big East sponsored a football conference. It had 2 non-football members playing FCS football (Georgetown in the Patriot League and Villanova in the A10/CAA), allowed Notre Dame to be a non-football member and allowed Temple to be a football-only member (participated in the A10 for everything else).

Some critics and media personalities are already starting to compare the two conferences. If the ACC starts to look even more similar to the Big East Football Conference, then there is a good chance a critic or media personality will make the following statement (or something to the effect), "The only thing left for the ACC to complete its transformation is to replace John Swofford with Mike Tranghese as commissioner." Once that starts to happen then it will be next to impossible for the conference to disassociate itself from the "red headed stepchild" label. What remains to be scene is the effects that label has on the conference and whether it motivate current members to leave the conference when the GoR comes up for renewal.
