Farther from plate than it was years ago. It's made velocity less important and movement more important due to increased reaction time.
It was a good rule change as its increased offense a lotbut the straight throwing fast ball pitchers (see Kelly Heinz) it made them less dominant.
If Kelly Heinz pitched from 3 feet closer, she'd probably still be pitching and on the verge of A-A status.
Maggie is a good exampleshe's a sinker ball pitcher who Ks a lot with movement. When both she and Kelly pitched, Kelly threw noticeably harder but gave up quite a few HRs because she supplied a lot of power and didn't have quite the movement Maggie does. When Maggje gets hit hard, it's because she's not getting the great downward movement
