Thanks. We actually have a shot at a bid

Humor me for just a moment.

IF we beat East Tennessee and split in the ACC tourney, that will leave us at 30-28 with a low 40s RPI.

If you look at the teams around us in RPI, there are two that jump out with similar records as VT - thus very much competing with the Hokies for a bid. Mississippi State has an RPI of 34, but a record of only 25-27. They close with 3 games at #11 Kentucky and then the SEC tournament. It's very possible that they will not finish .500 which would eliminate them from the big dance.

Oklahoma State has an RPI of 40 and a record of 25-22. They close with 3 games at Kansas (#44 RPI), a game versus Tulsa (#42 RPI) and 2 games versus #8 Oklahoma.(#3 RPI). It's possible they could also be under .500.

So our rooting guide for the next two weeks are the Hokies, Kansas, Tulsa, #8 Oklahoma and #11 Kentucky.

If all of the above happens, we have a shot. Maybe not a great one, but the fat lady hasn't sung quite yet.

Yes, I'm wearing Orange and Maroon glasses, but that's okay! You gotta believe!

LET'S GO HOKIES!!!!
