This is a completely crazy BIG 12 / ACC idea


So, please don't downvote me simply because I have the courage to put it out there.

Assuming no other factors, and they are legion, the ideal path at this point in the evolution of college football may be to create a super conference consisting of the ACC in the East and the Big 12 in the West. The ACC would be a division of 10 teams. The BIG 12 would be a division of 10 teams. Each division winner plays in the championship game.

Each division primarily plays in its own region to minimize travel and maintain rivalries. The conference slate consists of 10 games, with 2 cross division games counted in (total of 8 division games).

Tie breakers would be necessary to select the winner of each division.

The ACC would have to trim down to 10 teams. Not sure how that could be done, but I would love to see a situation where we trade one of our teams to the Big 12 and add WVU to the ACC.

Or, more feasibly, maybe we set the division size at 12 each. We give three of our team to the Big 12, and put WVU in the ACC. Not sure how we would select division winners in that scenario.
