I am failing at getting you to understand. The 3rd string gets more than zero assignments. They can be told to work on their jump shots. Work on their free throws. They can be told to watch the players that play their position and learn. Coaches will spend most of their time with those who will actually play most of the game. They will also be on the road recruiting. Most teams play less than 10 players in a game.

There is no limit on how much film they want to watch. They are free to watch film and practice whatever all they want on their own time. That is very common for players who want to get better. I would wager that some of the ladies are getting together on their own now to practice together. Keep your eyes out and maybe you will find our quarterbacks out with the receivers throwing and catching on their own so that they get their timing down, etc. Pretty common for those who are hungry.

Lastly, there is a difference between what your eyes see and actually knowing what is happening. Eyes can deceive you if you don't have all info like verbal info passed on from a coach to a player. College sports do NOT give out participation trophies. A player has to earn their playing time. Not all is equal. Most time and attention will go to those who can do the best to get a W.
