Well said ... but I think Buzz understands one thing very clearly ...
VT cannot consistently recruit talent to beat UNC, Duke, and probably even Louisville and a couple of others. So he has two options - recruit players for a very specific system (the Tony Bennett method) or recruit players who will play 100 mph hour on every possession on both ends of the floor. Buzz chooses the second option. That is how he played at Marquette and it worked. He did not have the talent of Georgetown, Louisville or a bunch of other Big East programs but he did well with the 'all effort' approach.
Look at the players he has put into the NBA. Clearly Jimmy Butler has some talent but he was not a heavily recruited guy. He worked harder than everyone around him. Reminds me of Ahmed Hill except that Hill was fairly heavily recruited. Jae Crowder is not the most talented guy either, but he simply plays so hard he makes up for it. Reminds me a bit of Chris Clarke.
So the question will be - can our 3rd, 4th, and 5th year effort guys beat the one-and-done's at Duke and UNC for 40 minutes? Probably not on a consistent basis but I think we can get to the point where it happens and it isn't a shock.
