I think the key may be the network almost as much as the conference

When the Big 12 lost 2 members, their network partner left them whole. It was to their corporate advantage to do so.

The network partner(s) could do the same if the Big 12 breaks up. It may be to their corporate advantage to have some stability with TV markets or fill in certain gaps. So they could make the receiving conference "whole" if it takes an Oklahoma State, K State, Iowa State, or WVU as examples. The problem for the conference would come after contract expiration.

That said, I don't think WVU will be in the ACC any more than the B1G. SEC, perhaps. They would be a reasonable fit with Tennessee and Ky.
