Not true, at least in the case of Ford

Per her own words, Ford said in this 2010 article that she was offered by Virginia Tech and Radford as well as JMU. She would have been a high school sophomore at that point.

“James Madison has offered me as well as Radford and Virginia Tech,” says Ford."
