I actually agree with Ourand but you missed the money statement that came

later in the podcast.

I always listen to the Richard Deitsch, SI Media podcast because I find the sports media topic to be very interesting. Deitsch and Ourand are the most connected in the media around this topic.

Ourand mentioned that he would be shocked in this age of cord cutting that "Comcast would be interested in adding an ACC Network in Boston just to accommodate BC games". I actually agree with him. He also stated that only if they made ESPNU an ACC Net would this make sense. I disagree with him there.

The part that was the money statement in the podcast is how the sports highlight is now dead and how that has impacted SportsCenter and to a lesser extent programming like Fox Sports Live on FS1.

If the sports highlight is dead, and I agree that it is due to instant technological gratification via Twitter, Facebook, and the ESPN app, then why on Earth is there a network called ESPNNEWS? My guess, and this is just my guess, is that an ACC Network will come from a re-brand of ESPNNEWS. This makes it a much easier sell to the distributors as they will not have to commit any more spectrum while ESPN can get more $$ for a property that already exists but gets lousy ratings.
