C-USA has just inked two new television partners in the American Sports Network and BeIn Sports.

ASN leverages a group of local television stations that are owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group. They also claim to get carriage on the Comcast Sports Net RSNs. I have to admit that I have never seen an ASN broadcast of any type and frankly, unless the Hokies are playing, I doubt I ever will.

The BeIN Sports connection is a bit more interesting. BeIn averages about 15,000 viewers per day and are owned by Al Jazeera Networks. They are on internationally in over 30 countries with their greatest reach in France.

BeIn is currently heavily built on soccer programming that features games from LaLiga in Spain, Serie A in Italy, and Ligue 1 in France. Their most well known talent is the great Ray Hudson who is worth checking out just to listen to some of his greatest hits. They also have a really sharp studio host named Kay Murray.

BeIn has determined that by broadcasting college football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, etc. from C-USA will help them penetrate the US market better. We'll see. I do like the idea of Ray Hudson calling an ODU-Tech football game from Norfolk.
