Not sure they would always be allies.


What about a one loss SEC runner up versus a one loss ND? Both get in and leave out three conference champs? Not going to happen.

I know in theory ND has agreed that IF a conference happens it is the ACC - but that agreement will run out. I also know there is some bad blood, but has the B1G completely given up getting ND?

There are so many scenarios. IMHO, the question of ND in a conference hinges on what happens when they are close to getting in the CFP, not when it is evident they belong in or don't. In order for ND to stay independent they need to get to the CFP a couple times in the next 6-8 years or accept that a natty will be very, very unlikely.

Over half of the current CFP committee have current/former ties to P4/5 schools/conferences. Conference championships mean something to those members. It may be a long time before it is officially four conference champs, but I think it will tend that way, particularly if it becomes P4 only.
