Scenario 2 is why I don't think they'll ever bolt the door. They can get


what they want without going to that extreme.

At some point they'll probably reorganize D1 and further refine some of the participation standards, similar to what they do now. They can adjust scholarship limits, athlete support payments, eligibility (which would hammer the Big 12 and many G5's), etc. They can also choose who they schedule...we're seeing some of that now as well.

As fans, we/I often speak in absolutes. There are good lawyers that I'm sure will help achieve the goal without crossing the anti-trust line.

I still think politics will be the bigger hurdle in any kind of "P" conference exclusivity or breakaway.
