I know more about W&M than you think...


They were good back before Nixon was president. I personally know a W&M grad who played football for them in the early-mid 1960's. He even tackled Roger Staubach in a 1963 game. That was over 50 years ago and a very different era.

Comparing W&M to Notre Dame just isn't a good comparison. Notre Dame has millions of fans nationwide. They have a 80,000+ seat football stadium (compared to W&M's 15,000-19,000 in the 1960's). They have a rich football tradition. They have their own TV deal with NBC. Notre Dame football has been relevant for almost 100 years.

I know that you and others believe Notre Dame will join the ACC as a full member. You seem to know more than TerryD and goldendomer. I'm more willing to believe diehard Notre Dame fans who have lived and experienced their tradition than someone who is admittedly an ACC homer ( I have no problem with your loyalty to the ACC). Maybe you have insider information that no one else on here has but I still believe Notre Dame will do everything they can to remain a football independent. Notre Dame's brand alone will keep them in the P-5 as a football independent. The TV networks and the P-5 would be foolish to not have them in as member of the P-5. When TerryD says football independence is more important than the championship playoffs, I believe him.
