Problem is, they're also outsiders. They've also played MD 39 times
Don't forget that PSU dropped those series many years ago. Not vice versa. Pitt was the only remotely competitive series. They've beaten Cuse 21/23 times. Only lost to MD twice, total. WVU 9 times out of 59 games, and Rutgers twice out of 26. Pitt is their only rival. The others were little more than cannon fodder from an eastern schedule. BTW, more than half of Pitt's wins in the series came before 1940.
And before FSU joined the ACC, they'd played VT more than any other school not named UF or Miami. Sometimes the frequency of games is from convenience more than anything else.
