For the Big Ten Network subscribers, YES. For this Tier 1 Deal, NO.


This Tier 1 deal in the article is driven by viewers and ratings. It's not by subscribers like BTN is.

MD and Rutgers were added for the BTN, and the Big Ten expected enough of a bump for them to not affect the Tier 1 deal much. There was room to absorb them. ESPN probably gave them a little credit for viewers in their states, but Will is correct. It probably wasn't a whole lot of credit, especially Rutgers.
