I do think there was "something" to the PSU leaving rumor.

There seems to have been a ton of ill will between PSU and the B1G after the Sandusky situation. PSU was quite ticked because of the B1G's refusal to take up for them w/ the NCAA. And of course, a lot of B1G faculty, alums, and fans would have taken a "don't let the door hit ya" approach to them after all of that. Folks wanted NOTHING to do with all of that stuff up there.

Anyhow, I think PSU actually leveraged that into a calling their own shots situation afterwards. I think they got their makeup kiss in the form of Maryland and Rutgers, though both had obviously been on the B1G's radar for a long time anyways.
