Where did I say there was a conspiracy with this year's NBA finals?
All I said was that the NBA would gain more exposure and profit more with a Cleveland victory than a GS victory. The city of Cleveland will probably buy every championship memorabilia that the NBA puts out there because of the historic significance. I am not sure the demand for GS championship memorabilia is as high in the North Bay Area.
As far as whether last year's team would have been a more compelling storyline, I am can't say because GS wasn't the defending NBA champion and regular season victories record holder. However, I don't recall the media talking about Cleveland's championship drought as much last year as they did this year. Plus, GS had the pressure of living up to the hype built up during the regular season of being compared to the Bulls team with 72 victories. If GS had won the game, then the media would have debated whether this year's GS team (or the Bulls' 72 victory team) was the greatest championship team of all time. There is another storyline the media can use to help continue talking about the Cavs victory.
