If someone says "off the field," then isn't the first thought


that most people have is to try to make a connection on how it could impact the player's status with the team? Compared to something "off the field" (i.e. desire to major in something not currently offered at VT, family reasons, etc.) that has no bearing on a player's status with the program. It seems like in most cases those types of connections tend to be more secondary (if at all).
