Was strictly saying Foster's defense hasn't been as good as people say it's been. In fact, you can make the case the defense has cost them several games in recent seasons.

2015: ECU (35-28), Miami (30-20), Duke (45-43 in 4OT), UNC (30-27 in OT)
2014: GT (27-24, allowed game winning drive), ECU (28-21, allowed game winning drive), BC (33-31).

This isn't to say the defense is the main reason VT has struggled the last four-five years. But, it can't be ignored that Tech's defense has been average at best lately.
