Pittsburgh Athletics released a 5 year strategic plan.
It was released a week ago, and it is very comprehensive and was created by a lot of participation across Pitt's athletics department, administration, student athletes, and faculty. I don't know if anyone here has seen it, but it's good IMO.
There is a lot in the plan, but some highlights that I find very good as a fan of another ACC school are:
- They intend to make the Pitt Script their brand. They will do away with the other logos on everything and restore the Pitt Script. That's the Pitt logo I grew up with, so I like that.
- They introduced a goal of finishing in the top 10% of the Director's Cup every year. I really like this because this means Pitt will be investing in all of their sports and not just football and basketball. Pitt lags all of the ACC in the Director's Cup. It will be great for the ACC if they can make this happen.
- They introduced plans to drive ticket revenue, merchadise revenue, and attendance. We've talked here about needing to get out of Heinz Field. If Pitt has a better plan to fill Heinz Field and the plan works, they should stay there. It's a fine stadium.
I looked for any reference to an ACC Network. There isn't one, just talk of leveraging all new media technologies. They want to create a weekly TV show like UVA has that covers all sports at Pitt and partner with Root Sports to air it. The rest of it talks about compliance, fundraising, recruiting, facilities, etc. It gets back to the basics. Attached is the link for anyone interested.
