I liked the effort he gave, but I never thought he was that good

The OSU game and the UVA comeback stick out. But overall when you compare him to our other starting QBs over the last 20 years, I'd say he was only better than Al Clark, and about even with Grant Noel. I don't really understand the love affair. If anything I feel that if the time and effort were put into developing Motley that he would have been better than Brewer. Down vote me all you want but Lefty spent zero time developing his back up QBs. Mark Leal was not as bad as he looked, and we now know that Motley is better than he was against OSU. Several fans wanted to keep Lefty just so we could keep Brewer around as a GA. That would have totally screwed up the chemistry of Fuente's staff.

If you really want to know how good your QB is, ask opposing fans. They'll be honest and unbiased. No one was impressed with Brewer outside the OSU game. But other fans were afraid of Vick, MV2, Randall, and Taylor.
